Level 1 Joinery student, Jason Hanmer has just completed a near perfect example of a scribed mortice and tenon Joint, commonly found in traditional wooden window manufacture.
What makes this piece of work particularly challenging is that the joint is manufactured completely by hand using very traditional woodworking techniques, a skill that can take months to master.
To begin with Jason was issued with a drawing, he then selected the timber and the correct tools to complete the task. With over 100 different hand tools available, selecting the right ones are a vital part of the planning.
Jason then planned his day out, setting goals to achieve by certain times of the day, having completed the joint he is reviewing how effectively he managed his day (pictured). Well done!
